TERANGI MALAMKU, ACT MALAYSIA'S SOLAR LAMP PROJECT IN MINDANAO @ ONLY RM35 PER LAMP, 2 LAMPS FOR EACH HOUSEHOLD
Terangi Malamku, the Solar Lamps Project, is an ongoing effort by ACT Malaysia to make nights a little bit brighter for families without access to power. There are still communities in Maguindanao who rely on kerosene lamps which are costly, unhealthy, and dangerous. Rechargeable solar lamps can light up their homes for 8 hours on a good charge and they can be used for a year or more if taken care of properly. They can also charge phones. To date, more than 2,800 units of solar lamps were distributed since the project started in 2014.
